Commemorative Patches - FundraiserDear Friends,As you may know, I am a member of a brand new Boy Scout Troop, Troop 101 in Marvin NC. We are sponsored by St. Margaret’s Episcopal church. As a new Troop, we currently have no camping equipment and have decided to hold a fund raiser selling commemorative Troop 101 patches to raise $5,000. This money will go to buy things like tents, stoves, pots, pans, Dutch ovens, axes, saws, tarps, and other essential things for camping. In order to raise the money we need your help. We are selling a Gold Patch Troop 101 Patch for $50 and a Silver Patch for $25. 100% of the cash raised will be going toward purchasing equipment and is tax deductable. We hope you can count on your support. Please let me know if you have any questions, or let me know which patch you would like to purchase. Thank You Yours in Scouting, John Crooks, Scoutmaster Welcome to the Troop 101 Website! We are a newly formed Boy Scout Troop in Marvin, North Carolina and are affiliated with St. Margaret's Episcopal Church on Crane and Rea Roads. We are excited about what's in store for our initial scouts coming from various Cub Scout packs in the area. We have assembled an experienced group of leaders with varying scouting experience to assure that the ideals of scouting are being upheld and implemented in our Troop. The ideals of Scouting are spelled out in the Scout Oath, the Scout Law, the Scout Motto, and the Scout Slogan. Through the Scouting program, a Scout measures himself against these ideals and continually tries to improve. The goals are high, and as he reaches for them, he has some control over what and who he becomes. Scout Spirit is an ideal attitude that Scouts around the world should show, based on adherence to the Scout Law and Scout Oath. The Scout Law A scout is: Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful, Friendly, Courteous, Kind, Obedient, Cheerful, Thrifty, Brave, Clean and Reverent The Scout Oath On my honor, I will do my best, To do my duty to God and my country, And to obey the Scout Law; To help other people at all times; To keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight. The Scout Oath is a personal code of living, guide the way in which each Scout lives his life and binds all Scouts together. With the Scout Oath, a Scout is engaged to do his best to obey the Scout Law and it mentions the main principles: Duty to God, Duty to Others, Duty to Self The Scout Motto - Be Prepared The Scout Slogan - Do a Good Turn Daily The values expressed in these Ideals are more than just words to members of Troop 101. We expect our members to hold true to these values as they conduct their lives both in and out of Scouting. |
